This document describes what the app does with data. The short answer, up front: no accounts, no server of ours, and your progress never leaves your device.
The app has no backend. There is no data you could send us, because there is nowhere for it to go.
Your study history is stored only on your phone, in the app’s own database:
All of this lives in the app’s private storage. Deleting the app removes it entirely from your device. We hold no copy, so it cannot be recovered.
Export backup in Settings writes your progress to a file and opens your device’s share sheet. You decide where the file goes — your own email, a cloud drive, a messaging app. We never see that file and do not know where you sent it. From that point the privacy policy of your chosen destination applies.
If you allow reminders, the notification is scheduled on your device and fires on your device. It is not sent from a server; we use no push notification infrastructure. You can revoke the permission at any time in your device settings.
The app works entirely offline. Words, meanings, and every pronunciation recording ship with the app; there is nothing to download and no server of ours for the app to contact.
The only time it goes online is when you tap a link on the Sources screen: the link opens in your device’s browser and you visit that site. The privacy policy of the site you open then applies.
When you listen to an example sentence (or one of the few words without a recording), the app uses your device’s own text-to-speech engine and gives it only the English text to read. On some Android devices the default speech engine works over the network and may send the text to its own provider; this depends on your device’s system settings and is outside the app’s control. What is sent is, in every case, an English word from the dictionary — not personal information.
The app is not directed at children, but since it collects no data from anyone, no age-dependent handling differs.
If this document changes, the date above is updated. If a change affects data collection behaviour, we will also announce it inside the app.
